	Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Sunday said that works are underway for renovation of roads, flyovers, pedestrian bridges and streets lights. Cleanliness is also necessary as cleaned roads and streets could lead to uplifting of basic infrastructure, the Administrator passed these remarks while reviewing works being carried out by Works and Services Department. The Administrator said that road carpeting is underway at service road in Shahrah-e-Faisal PECHS and the speedy works are being carried out to facilitate the people. He said that the people were facing hardships as the service road was in deplorable condition. He said that surveys are being conducted and the roads are being made motorable wherever necessary. Ahmed said that street lights are made functional from Memon gate at Central Jail to Usmani hospital. The Administrator said that street lights were very necessary at Central Jail flyover as it face traffic. The works were completed on priority basis. Ahmed said that pedestrian bridges were established for convenience of the public. The flow of traffic outside Aladin Park at Rashid Minhas Road is very speedy and the people use the pedestrian bridge in crossing the road. But the pedestrian bridge is in deplorable condition and the Administrator took notice and directed the Works and Services Department to renovate it at the earliest. The Administrator directed Works and Services Department Director Shabeeh ul Hassan Zaidi to ensure flow of traffic by keeping one track open. He also directed the concerned officials to use standard material for long lasting results. He said that uplifting of infrastructure is their topmost priority for which effective mechanism and strategy are made.
