  Deputy Mayor Karachi assumes charge of his office.

  Karachi, Aug 31: Deputy Mayor Karachi Dr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra has stressed the need of solving people’s problems on preferential basis. We will work as a team. It was essential to strengthen inter coordination between the concerned ministry and municipal bodies by eliminating misunderstandings among them. Corruption at any level will not be tolerated. Every good work will be appreciated and wrongdoing will be discouraged. The organization was facing shortage of funds therefore efforts will be made to raise the income resources. Local and foreign investors will be invited for mega projects in the city. He expressed these views after assuming the charge of his office on Wednesday morning at KMC building and then while talking to media representatives in Civic Centre. Earlier Deputy Mayor Dr. Arshad Vohra was welcomed on his arrival at the Civic Centre where the director general of KDA Nasir Abbas and office bearers of KDA and KMC employees unions presented him with floral bouquet. Later while talking to media, the deputy mayor said Karachi presently experiencing immense difficulties as due to not getting attention since last eight years the city was facing many problems. He said the people have lot of expectations from us and we hope that the Sindh Government would fully cooperate with us. He said we will make it sure that problems of citizens are solved they avail the maximum facilities for which works will start under long and short term planning. Replying to a query he said we had begun thinking on this and started the home work for resolving city problems right after winning the election on 5th December and a road map was prepared in this connection. Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra said the vacuum created by absence of local bodies’ representatives had now been removed and the elected members of union councils would prove quite helpful for the Sindh Government due to having practical knowledge of the problems at streets and muhallah level and we hope the Sindh government would give us required funds as well as the powers. He said the team comprising of the mayor, deputy mayor, district chairmen and union council chairmen has been elected by the people and these representatives of people shall apprise the government about the problems of the city while expecting implementation of the suggestions submitted by them for solution of the city problems.
