City Warden Department was created in the year of 2008 under the umbrella of Municipal Services, CDGK vide Council Resolution No: 329 dated: 4th March, 2008 which has been renamed as City Warden Department, KMC. Now City Warden Department has been placed under the direct supervision of Senior Director, Disaster Management and the Director, City Warden, KMC and through Administrative Order 2017 the department is heading under the direct control of Mayor/Administrator, Karachi & Metropolitan Commissioner, KMC for smooth functioning and efficient working. Now, all the administrative and financial matters route to from Director (City Warden), KMC to the Competent Authority i.e. Administrator, KMC & Metropolitan Commissioner, KMC.
The basic motive for creation of City Warden in 2008 was to provide peaceful and healthy environment to the citizens as number of incidents of violence, secretariat and target killing were occurring on day to day basis and to tackle situation was main purpose. Therefore, such department was created in the interest of general public as well as to provide security to the senior officers of KMC and others and also utilize their services for controlling of overflow of traffic.
