Photography Competition & Exhibition

1st KMC Photography Competition And Exhibition.

It is proposed that the KMC may start hosting an annual photography competition and exhibition to promote local talent and storytelling through visuals. In this regard, we may like to call for photographic works on the following themes:

• Architectural heritage of Karachi – for entrants above 18 years of age
• Trees of Karachi – for entrants aged 12 to 18 years

Eligibility:

• The competition is open to all residents of Sindh
• Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial purposes and/or been published will not be eligible.

Submission Of Entries:

• Photographs of not more than 10MB in size must be submitted online and KMC may request for higher resolution images or prints subsequently.
• Entries should be in JPEG format and at least 1600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1600 pixels tall for a vertical image.
• Each participant can submit up to three (3) entries.
• Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the photos will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed.
• KMC reserves the right to reject entries with incomplete details. The submission deadline is 15th May 2024. All submissions can be made on the website of KMC (kmc.gos.pk).
• All submitted materials are non-returnable.
• The file name for each photograph should be clearly labelled with the participant’s name, and where the photograph was taken. (E.g. Abdullah KMC Building)
• Participants are entirely responsible for all entry-related costs.

Copyright/Intellectual Property:

• Entries must be the original and unpublished work of the participant and copyright owner.
• KMC reserves the right to reproduce any entry in print, broadcast and/or electronic media without requiring the permission of the participant and without any fee payment. However, the photographer will be acknowledged.
• Images received through the photography competition will not be used for commercial purposes.

Culture and Sports Department, KMC would act as the focal point on behalf of KMC. A panel of judges would be constituted to adjudicate the entries and declare the winners of the competition. Cash prizes may be offered to three best photographs of both themes. KMC may also host an exhibition of the photographs received on both themes at the Frere Hall, on any convenient date, in month of December 2023.

Also, the photographs received may be used for compilation of yearbook, calendar and diaries.
